Industrialist Anand Mahindra today referenced the end of Ganesh Chaturti in his own unique way, namely by sharing a clip of an elephant calf swinging its trunk.
A day after devotees celebrated the last day of Ganesh Chaturthi, the immersion ceremony of the Ganesh idols, he shared the video on Twitter that read: “I think Bappa is saying goodbye to us with his trunk…and we say: Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya! See you next year.”

One user said “Ganpati went to Africa?”. Another user compared the playful swing of the calf to cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s signature celebratory move, releasing his club like a sword.

Ganesh Visarjan, marking the end of the 10-day festival, is when devotees wish bapa goodbye in hopes that next year he will visit their homes to bestow blessings.
On this day, idols of Lord Ganesh are brought to nearby water bodies and submerged. Devotees take the idols for immersion in large processions.
Pandemic-induced restrictions had curtailed the celebration in the past two years. Free from those restrictions, this year’s festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm.
Yesterday, thousands of people gathered at Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai for the immersion ceremony of Ganesh idols.
