A woman gave birth to a healthy baby in the toilet of a Frontier Airlines flight to Florida. Independent† The report is based on a Facebook post from the airlines.
According to the post, the passenger experienced early contractions while flying from Denver to Orlando. Diana Giraldo, a flight attendant, took the woman to the toilet and assisted her with the delivery.
Chris Nye, the captain of Frontier Airlines, praised Diana Giraldo’s heroic task in two words: “Exemplary” and “quiet”.
“Diana again went above and beyond to coordinate our return to Orlando after the flight was completed,” the captain said, as stated in the Facebook post.
“The whole crew really did a great job. I handed over controls and flying duties to my first officer while coordinating the diversion. Dispatch also did a great job proposing Pensacola Airport and having a gate and paramedics ready for us. This was a job well done and I was pleased to see everyone working together to successfully deliver a newborn on an airplane,” Chris Nye said in the post.
The woman has kept the newborn’s middle name “Sky” in tribute to her arrival at high altitude, the airline said, which also shared the photo of the little one.
The post has gotten over 2,500 likes and over 349 shares on Facebook since it was posted.
Users praised the airline’s teamwork and congratulated the woman and the newborn child.
