Many bank customers wonder if their local branches are open on April 18, 2025, because Good Friday is approaching. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that on 18 April banks will observe a holiday under the manageable instruments act in compliance with Good Friday, a Christian holiday to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

In particular, banks in Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, Chandigarh and Srinagar will remain open, while most other states and UTs will observe the closure.

Normal banking activities will resume on Saturday, April 19. The regular weekend closure will follow on Sunday 20 April.

Digital banking services remain available:
Despite the closure of physical branches in the affected states, customers can still trust digital banking services. ATM services, SMS banking, WhatsApp Banking, Mobile Bank apps and internet banking will continue to work without interruptions.
