A fight broke out at a funeral in England and the grieving mourners were sprayed with pepper spray, a report in Liverpool Echo said. The incident took place in Merseyside on Monday and police rushed to the scene after the brawl broke out in the street. The outlet spoke to eyewitnesses, who said they saw dozens of police vehicles and people being “draged out” and “handcuffed” by officers. A woman allegedly yelled that she had been “peppered”, according to one of the eyewitnesses.
More than a dozen police vehicles reached the site of a vigil at a social club and turned into a brawl after an altercation.
Merseyside police confirmed that three people – a 27-year-old man and two 24-year-old women – were arrested on suspicion of drunkenness and disorder in a public place, Liverpool Echo said in its report.
Police also said that one of the women had been arrested on suspicion of assaulting three aid workers.
“Three people have been arrested following a disturbance at a social club in Wallasey today, Monday, July 25. It was reported around 4:55 p.m. that there was an altercation at Park View Social Club on Liscard Road that spilled out onto the street,” said a police spokesman.
They are now being questioned, the spokesman said.
