A woman in Britain was stunned to discover a possible underground World War II air raid shelter in her backyard. According to New York Post, 34-year-old Rebecca Hobson, was told by neighbors about the 50-metre high shelter during the 2020 Covid lockdown at the back of her home in Kent, England. But she only checked it this year. Mrs Hobson excavated the giant tunnel by removing a pavement slab with her partner Darren. The couple live in a village near Folkestone.
“When we moved into the house we had no idea there was an air raid shelter in our garden,” Ms Hobson told the British agency. Subway.
“A few years later, some locals said there might be something from the war in the garden. We are still trying to delve into its history, but it is still very interesting,” she added.
Ms Hobson also shared the photos of the incredible discovery on her social media handles. She has lived in the house for 15 years.
A video on her TikTok takes viewers on a virtual tour of the medium-sized tunnel structure with lights, according to the After report.
The clip also shows rubble with rat traps, bottles and bowls covered in dust.
“This is insane! Such an incredible find! Excuse the pessimist in me, but I would definitely still keep it as a shelter due to the state of the world,” one user wrote.
“Does the other end lead somewhere?” asked another, to which Mrs Hobson and her partner replied: 'It comes out at the bottom of the road, but that end is closed. So the only entrance and exit is from our garden.'
Before Mrs. Hobson, a woman found a basement-converted nuclear bunker in her grandmother's house, which she said the previous owners had installed in anticipation of a nuclear war or, shall we say, a zombie apocalypse.
