Solving the Rubik’s Cube is not child’s play. Many people who have tried to solve it have lost patience or interest after repeated failures. But a boy from Chennai solved the puzzle with incredible speed. Not only that – he solved a Rubik’s cube in just seconds while cycling, a feat that has earned him a Guinness World Record.
Guinness World Records shared a video of Jayadharshan Venkatesan on Instagram, in which he said he solved a Rubik’s cube in just 14.32 seconds. The video showed Jayadharshan riding a bicycle and solving the Rubik’s Cube with both hands. He raised his hand the moment he finished the challenge.
“Speedcubing on a bicycle – 14.32 seconds by Jayadharshan Venkatesan (from India),” said Guinness World Records in the caption.
The record holder added in a commentary that Jayadharshan worked on his speed-solving skills for two years until he was confident he could achieve this title.
The social media upload has garnered 262K views and several comments congratulating the boy.
“That’s a record,” one user wrote.
Another pointed to the boy’s facial expression and said: “The boy isn’t even smiling, he means it”.
“Impressive for its age, but the original Speed Cube solver can break it with some practice if he/she knows how to ride a bike,” read one comment.
A person-user drew attention to Jayadharshan’s decision to combine cycling with puzzle solving. “It’s fun to do, but the combination of activities that people do for world records is great.”
“Congratulations sweetie…very proud”, wrote one of the viewers.
Two years ago, another person from Chennai had attempted to enter the archive book by solving the largest number of Rubik’s cubes underwater. Illayaram Sekar entered the Guinness World Records by solving six cubes in one width. He spent 2 minutes and 17 seconds underwater, beating the previous record of five Rubik’s cubes dissolved underwater.
