An X user has sparked a debate online after highlighting a price difference for the same product on Flipkart depending on the user's operating system. On the microblogging site, user Saurabh Sharma shared screenshots of the e-commerce app that showed a noticeable price variation for iPhone and Android users. “Android vs iOS – different prices on Flipkart app. The same Mokobara suitcase costs Rs 4,119 on Flipkart's Android app versus Rs 4,799 on iOS app,” Sharma wrote while sharing the screenshots on X.
As per the photos, a small carry-on bag from Mokobara costs Rs 4,119 with 65% off on Android. The same product costs Rs 4,799 with 60% discount on iPhone. Moreover, Android users have a no-cost EMI option starting from Rs 1,373 per month, while for iOS users, the EMI starts from Rs 1,600 per month.
“Apple charges a 30% commission on subscriptions etc., so different prices for iOS make sense there. But for e-commerce? Very shady and unfair,” Sharma wrote in his post.

In the next post, Mr. Sharma shared a screenshot of a conversation he had with Flipkart customer support. The e-commerce site explained: “Prices may vary as they are determined by the seller based on various factors. Don't worry though, our sellers always do their best to bring you great deals and discounts. Have fun shopping!”
Mr Sharma shared the message on Wednesday. It has since racked up over 127,000 views and several comments.
In response to the post, one user wrote: “This is common across multiple apps, very annoying. I once had a 1 lakh Android device and an old iPhone 7 plus and on the latter everything was more expensive. If I remember correctly, even taxi fares.'

“I think that's common knowledge. The price of the listed product varies depending on the phone. Even super prices change not only during rain, but also when your phone's battery percentage is low. That's how companies take advantage of opportunities,” said another.
“Shady, yes! Check if Amazon or someone else does the same, I don't think so. Flipkart has been in the shadows for a while now. Unfair? as long as they can get away with it. Flipkart air conditioning closed long ago. The platform accepts no liability for anything. Risky platform,” said a third user.
“I noticed the same thing in Zepto/instamart/blinkit. The difference there is negligible, but the question is why that difference,” said another. “Both platforms have different commission rates, so I can accept a difference in price. However, this huge difference can only be a mistake by the seller,” said a fifth user.
