We have all used a ballpoint pen at some point in our lives. These pens have been our companion since our school days. But here’s a ballpoint pen that you may not be able to use on a daily basis. But it still demands all the attention. Wondering why?
The Guinness World Records has announced the largest ballpoint pen in the world. And it’s bigger than you can imagine. The pen is 5.5 meters (18 ft, 0.53 in) long and weighs 37.23 kg. It is certainly not for use by a layman. The maker of the pen is Acharya Makunuri Srinivasa.
The Guinness World Records shared a video of this pen on their Instagram page.
The caption read: “This ballpoint pen behemoth inscribed with scenes from Indian mythology was created by Acharya Makunuri Srinivasa of India. The 9 kg (19 lb 13.5 oz) copper pen had a length of 5.5 m (18 ft). 0.53 in), beating the previous record by 1.45 m (4 ft 9 in) when it was judged in Hyderabad, India, on April 24, 2011.

In fact, many users had comments about the pen, and quite a few of them even questioned its usefulness.
One user found the “amount of work required to do this extraordinary”.
Another user commented on a lighter note, “Is this made for hulk?”
The pen’s dimensions were assessed in Hyderabad on April 24, 2011. An extensive video of the pen’s unveiling ceremony was shared by Guinness World Records on YouTube.
In the video we see that it took a minimum of four to five people to use the pen. The men used the pen to write on a piece of paper. They also drew a face on a piece of paper.
At one point there was also a fear that the giant pen would split in two.
