The Guinness World Records Instagram page regularly shares throwback videos and photos featuring various stunning world records. This time, they shared several creepy photos of a huge crab named Big Daddy. Big Daddy, in particular, is part of the Guinness World Records list for being “the world’s largest captive crustacean.” The record was verified in Blackpool on August 8, 2013.
“Big Daddy is a record breaking crustacean! Meet Big Daddy the Crab. He is a Japanese spider crab that lived with Sea Life in Blackpool, UK. Big Daddy’s legs extended to 3.11 meters (10 feet 2.5 inches), making him the “world’s widest captive crustacean,” Guinness World Records wrote, adding four stunning photos of the crab.

In the caption, they also added that the crab is named after professional wrestling star Big Daddy.
The mighty Big Daddy also held the record for the longest leg on a crab – 4 ft 8.5 in (1.43 m)! This was verified in Blackpool on August 8, 2013,” the message continues.
According toVisit Blackpool, the record-breaking crab was destined for a Japanese fish market until a postponement was negotiated and it was flown to the UK instead.
Since being shared online three days ago, the images have garnered more than 1.3 lakh likes and tons of comments. Instagram users were fascinated by the photos and left several comments.
“The most aptly named crustacean ever,” wrote one Instagram user. A second commented, “That’s a Kingler from Pokemon.” A third quipped, “The first image looks like it’s about to release the best album of 2010.”
Big Daddy died peacefully in early 2016, aged about 80, according to Guinness World Records.
