There have been many strange cases that people have encountered when they want to rent or buy a house. These incidents are especially common when landlords or roommates make sometimes unusual and bizarre demands of their potential tenants. This time, a woman, who was looking for a house in Gurugram, faced a similar situation when a potential tenant rejected her because she was in a serious relationship with her boyfriend. User Shivangi Shah shared to X a screenshot of a conversation she had with a Gurugram-based woman on Facebook group 'Flat and flatmates (Gurgaon)'.
In the post, the tenant can be seen asking Ms Shah about her love life and whether she was in a serious relationship with her boyfriend. The conversation begins with the tenant asking Mrs. Shah if she has “a date.” Thinking the question was regarding her move date, Ms. Shah responded by saying she could move in the last week of December or the first week of January.

The tenant then explained that she wanted to ask if she had a boyfriend. To this, Ms. Shah said yes, adding that he was also based out of Gurugram. The tenant then asked if the relationship was “serious.” When Ms. Shah said this was the case, the tenant stated that she preferred casual relationships and wanted a roommate who shared the same preference.
Ms Shah on Monday shared the screenshot of the conversation on X with the caption: “House hunting in Gurgaon is wild.” Since then, the post has racked up more than 79,000 views and more than 750 likes.
The unusual exchange left social media users feeling both amused and confused. Commenting on the post, one user wrote: “I don't understand: she wants to hook up with you or your friend?”

“Making appointments with your entire personality is wild,” another commented. “WTF did I just see? Is this true?” asked a third user.
Meanwhile, in another rental story, a 20-year-old recently shared that she had been rejected by roommates because of her age. In a video on She said the tenants told her, “We don't feel comfortable with you living here because you're only 20.” However, she remained determined to prove herself as a worthy housemate and created a PowerPoint presentation about her positive qualities.
