The story of a friendship between two women who has broken through all barriers is going viral on the internet. It was shared by Sneha Biswas, the CEO of Early Steps Academy, on LinkedIn. In the post, she talked about one of her classmates from Harvard Business School who is from Pakistan.
Ms Biswas shared some photos of her golden time with the woman on LinkedIn two days ago. Sharing the post, she confessed that she grew up with stereotypes fueled by the competition between the two countries, which she overcame when she met her boyfriend.
Mrs. Biswas met her on the first day of Harvard Business School. By the end of the first semester, the woman from Pakistan had become one of her best friends on campus. Ms Biswas also noted that growing up in a small Indian town limited her knowledge during her childhood to history books, cricket and the media. Perceptions change when people interact with other people across borders, she said.
“Through multiple chais, biryanis, financial models and case study preparations, we got to know each other. Her stories of growing up in a conversational Pakistani background, but blessed with supportive parents who gave her and her younger sister the courage to live up to the standards breaking and chasing their dreams resonated with me. Her stories of fearless ambitions and bold choices inspired me,” she said in the post.
The photo Ms Biswas shared showed her and the woman from Pakistan showing off their national flags on Flag Day at Harvard.
“Look at us on the famous flag day in #harvard – showing off our flags and smiling at the joy of ‘breaking barriers’ – not only literally between India and Pakistan, but also for the countless little girls from India and Pakistan who fear to shoot for the stars,” she added.
The LinkedIn post garnered over 43,000 likes, over 1,700 comments, and hundreds of shares.
“Such a beautiful message”, wrote one user while another said: “This is what people need to know..before all we are humam beings and our nature has a different type of characteristic, it all depends on us which one we want show the society…good business. All the best.”
