YouTuber and IT coach David Bombal have recently performed an extensive test to determine whether the Chinese artificial intelligence company Deepseek is deceiving or not with regard to data protection. He used an Ethernet cable to connect his Android telephone on the internet and a drain to capture the traffic to test this. David monitored the data sent from his device with the help of Wireshark, an application with which users can check the network traffic.
During the test he discovered a few very alarming facts with regard to data privacy. Wireshark showed that 51 packages were transferred to Beijing, despite the claims from Deepseek that it does not send data to China. Subsequent analysis showed that Alibaba Cloud was also used to switch the data that brought considerable concerns about the company's data processing practices.
In the video, David clarified that Deepseek's statements about the privacy policy are clearly at odds with this revelation.
