An Airbnb host in Dublin recently advertised a ‘private room’ under the stars for nearly $75 (Rs 5,800) a night, but it was really just a pop-up tent on a concrete slab in the backyard.

At first, many thought someone was joking because of the skyrocketing property prices in Dublin. However, these speculations were cleared up when a housing activist emailed the user whether this ad was true.

The Airbnb host replied that the ad was indeed true. He said “it’s no joke” and he also had a comfy couch in the living room if she preferred. According to the screenshot of the housing activist, Mr. Paul also stated that he has a very large living room and several sofas that are also listed.
Individual, Twitter user Nick Capa also posted a screenshot of the same “private room” and said he nearly cried when he saw how “unreasonable” the actual accommodations in Dublin are.
When the post went viral, internet users criticized the Airbnb host for charging high fees for a tent in his concrete yard. It left netizens baffled. While some tagged Airbnb and wrote “what time do you advertise this stuff”, others said, “who the hell would book if it were true”.
