Kanye West has reportedly hired Camille Vasquez, Johnny Depp’s attorney, to represent his business interests — contracts, deals and the works — following his spate of anti-Semitic comments and false claims about George Floyd, whose family is suing the rapper for harassment, embezzlement and slander.
In recent days, the rapper and entrepreneur, who legally changed his name to Ye a year ago, has come under fire for his anti-Semitic comments amid the ongoing “White Lives Matter” controversy. His comments caused a stir, which subsequently led to high-end fashion brand Balenciaga severing ties with him.
Now, amid this ongoing business setback, Mr. West hired a new legal assistant to review his business contracts and deals. According to TMZMr. West would have retained the national law firm of Brown Rudnick, and Camille Vasquez would have been among the group of lawyers at the firm he hired.

Ms. Vasquez is a partner at Brown Rudnick’s Irvine, California office. She became a bit of an online celebrity during the libel trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, which took place in Virginia, USA. Posts about her were made on social media and tributes were made about her as she developed a fan base among Mr Depp’s followers.
Meanwhile, coming back to Mr. West, George Floyd’s lawyers said on Tuesday that the rapper will face a $250 million lawsuit for his comments about his death. He will be charged with “harassment, embezzlement, defamation and infliction of emotional distress,” the lawyers said, adding that in a recent interview Mr West made false claims about Mr Floyd’s death.
Speaking in a podcast Drink ChampsWest had claimed that Mr Floyd had been killed by a fentanyl overdose, and not by a police officer kneeling on his neck – contrary to evidence from a medical examiner. Mr Floyd died in 2020 after police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nine minutes in Minnesota. The footage of the incident was shared around the world and served as a catalyst for the massive revival of the Black Lives Matter movement.
