If you were born in Bombay or have spent even a short time there, you are probably already familiar with the famous “vada pav” that the city is known for. Buttery soft pav buns with a crispy Aloo Bonda and spicy and savory chutneys make for a delicious street style snack. You can enjoy this specialty during breakfast, lunch, high tea or at any time of the day. Recently, a Mumbai-based influencer called the snack 'trash' and this has disappointed many users on the internet.
Sakshi Shivdasani, an Instagram content creator with over four lakh followers, spoke on the show 'Having Said That'. “Vada Pav is garbage. I hate Vada Pav from the bottom of my heart,” she said. She explained the reason and added, “You definitely don't think boiled potatoes and bread make sense.” The host of the show said that potatoes are first boiled and then fried and served on a pav. Finally, a chutney is added. The influencer then stated that adding chutney is not “unique” to the snack.
The show's hosts debate the snack and discuss the price value and “vibes” of the dish. Ms. Shivdasani concluded and said that she considers Samosa Pav to be better than Vada Pav
The video was originally shared in December 2023. Since it was uploaded, it has been viewed two million times and liked more than 47,000 times.
“Cancel culture needs to cancel her for this,” one user said.
“Hating popular things won't make you cool,” another person added.
A third user added, “She will hate Vada Pav and then she will pay Rs 500 for some Hash Browns with some ketchup in a so called 'aesthetic' cafe.” Another said: “Okay, so what makes sense to her? Burger? One thing that has cooked potatoes and bread (bun), does that make sense to her?
“Chutney in Vadapav is 100000000000000 times better than your accent,” someone commented.
“Typical bhaiya girl from South Mumbai,” said another user.
One user agreed with the content creator, saying: “Same, same! I hate it too”
“Factzz. It's so middle,” said another person.
