The yoga practitioners performed Shavasana.
In a strange turn of events, police rushed to a community hall in Britain after local dog walkers misinterpreted a group meditation exercise during a yoga class as something akin to a “ritual mass murder.”
Police officers were called to the North Sea Observatory in Chapel St Leonards, Lincolnshire, on Wednesday evening following concerns about a possible large-scale criminal incident.
However, it was later discovered that the group of people involved simply lay on their backs with their eyes closed and participated in the relaxation phase of a class.
The yoga practitioners performed Shavasana (Corpse Pose).
The unusual incident was documented by the Seascape Cafe and shared in a Facebook post.
Lincolnshire Police later said everyone was safe and in good health, and acknowledged the call had been made out of well-intentioned concerns.
Yoga teacher Millie Laws told us the BBCthat she thought reports that she was a “mass murderer” were a “joke” at first.
The 22-year-old teacher told the news station that she was teaching seven students at the Seascape Café, located in the building, when she saw two dog walkers peering through the glass window at close range during the Shavasana, or relaxation, phase of the class.
“They are [students] lying with blankets over them; their eyes are closed. It’s very dark in there. I just had candles and little tea lights lighting up the whole room, and I just walked around playing my drum. I had on a beautiful floaty top with big flowy sleeves,” she said.
“A couple with some dogs just came to the window and looked in, but they walked away very quickly, and I didn’t think anything of it. I didn’t know until after we left that these people were calling. They said there was a mass murderer; they were wearing robes and walking over all the people, and it looked like some kind of ritual, and that the people on the floor were actually dead,” Millie Laws told the newspaper. BBC.
‘I think it could look like that from the outside, because they are all very quiet, very nice and relaxed. I’m sure their imaginations were running wild with what was going on.’
