The video is going viral on the internet.
The internet is a repository of the cool stuff. Often there are videos that hypnotize or leave people in awe.
One of those videos making waves on the internet – literally – shows a huge sea wave hitting clouds. Yes, you read that right. Watch the video first and then we’ll dive deep to explain the natural phenomenon behind this:

As seen in the nearly 40-second video, after reaching its apex, the wave can be seen skimming through the cloud-like formation, touching it gently, and then coming down.
This is an old video that has surfaced and has been shared by Outer Areas on Twitter. The video has received nearly 7.50 lakh views. But there is a catch.
The video is real, but the “clouds” above are not. Those are actually the sea aerosol (SSA). The SSA is one of the most widely distributed natural aerosols.
According to the United States Government’s National Library of Medicine website, SSA resembles clouds but is formed by the ocean, usually by the ejection of bursting bubbles at the air-sea interface.
The SSAs are produced at the ocean’s surface and can be taken to the upper troposphere, where they contribute to the global radiation budget, the website said.
According to Science DirectSSA particles play an essential role in atmospheric chemical processes and the Earth’s radiative balance by altering cloud properties, including albedo, longevity and size, and scattering them directly by solar radiation.
SSA is being studied in its freshly ejected state for accurate model calculations of climate impacts.
