Alex Kell with his paddle board.
A man in the UK has come up with a unique solution for people who spend a lot of time and money commuting from home. Alex Kell, a Gloucester-based financial planner, paddles to work, saving about £2,500 a year in gas and parking costs.
“I’ve paddleboarded for about five or six years,” Mr. Kell . told me Euro News†
“A few years ago I moved to a location where I was right on the water so that I could paddle boarding not only in my spare time, but also as my daily commute,” added the 38-year-old.
Mr Kell, owner of Quayside Wealth Management, collects his stand-up paddleboard from his home and paddles the mile on the Gloucester-Sharpness Canal to work.
He told SWNS that the unique commute gives him some much-needed thinking time as an entrepreneur and helps him relax after a stressful day at the office.
“The commute on a paddleboard is pretty peaceful,” he told Euro News.
He regularly posts about his paddleboard adventures on his Instagram handle.
Mr. Kell has also talked about his unique commute on LinkedIn, where he stands ready to provide financial advice to those interested.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mr. Kell helps with financial planning, mortgages, retirement planning etc. He studies Bachelor of Science, Business Management and Information Technology at University of Gloucestershire.
The 38-year-old, who lives with his partner, loves life on the water and has no plans to hit the road again in his Ford ranger any time soon.
