An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck eastern Japan on May 26, according to Japan’s NHK. The quakes rattled buildings in Tokyo and also affected surrounding prefectures. Amid this, a video is circulating of tourists at Disneyland in the country taking cover on the internet.
The video was shared by Jeffrey J Hall on Twitter. The beginning of the video shows the feet of some people walking through the park. Within seconds, an earthquake warning will sound on the loudspeaker. Disneyland Tokyo guests are then forced to crouch near the sidewalks of the theme park and huddle in the gift shop.
Since the video was shared, it has been viewed more than 1.9 lakh times on the microblogging website. “‘Attention! Prepare for a strong earthquake!’ – A video from a few minutes ago shows Tokyo Disneyland’s earthquake warning system in action,” the caption of the 42-second video reads.

“It was a longer shake than the one we had about a week ago, and much stronger,” said one user.
“Well, a new fear has been unlocked,” a second person added.
A third user shared, “It was alarming when we didn’t understand what was going on and what people were saying as we walked and finally felt it was a real earthquake.”
“I was on the train and didn’t even notice,” said one user.
Another user commented, “A perpetual earthquake!”
According to a report in Independent, there are no reports of significant damage or casualties, although the earthquake’s epicenter was off the coast of Chiba and Ibaraki prefecture was also affected. No tsunami warning has been issued.
It should be noted that Japan, one of the most seismically active countries, regularly experiences earthquakes. One-fifth of all global earthquakes with a magnitude of six or greater occur in the country.
