You must have come across videos of various natural phenomena on social media. These amazing videos let you imagine the beauty and magic of nature. One of those videos is doing the rounds on the internet showing an explosion of aurora.
The video, shared on Instagram six days ago by a user named Vincent Ledvina, shows a beautiful scene of an aurorae explosion in Alaska, United States. “Aurora Explosion in Alaska! Can’t wait to get back,” the caption reads.
According to his Instagram bio, Mr. Ledvina is a scientist and calls himself “The Aurora Guy”. He also studies space weather and is an expert at finding green skies.
The video starts with a super caption that reads: “This is what I mean when I say the aurora can “explode”. At a count of three, the video shows an explosion of the aurora making the sky full of green waves. The reflection of the green light can be seen everywhere, making the view even more beautiful.”
“The Northern Lights were so strong that it overexposed my camera. It was also so green to the naked eye. The explosion is actually called a substorm, where the Northern Lights brighten for a short time and extend toward the equator. Substorms go through three phases: expansion, rupture and recovery,” the text explains super further.
Since it was shared, the video has racked up over 3.2 million views and over 3.4 lakh likes on Instagram. It also received a barrage of comments and questions about the phenomenon and the places where it can be seen.
“My dream is to one day see an Aurora with my own eyes… BTW, one question, do these Auroras look as bright as they appear in the videos or do they look a bit like the stars where you can see them on your own see when there is no light pollution?” one user asked.
Another asked, “Where would you find the best place to travel to see the lights? A place with the greatest opportunity.”
A third user simply wrote, “Wow, that’s great.”
