A message banning delivery drivers from entering a housing association has gone viral on social media, sparking anger among netizens. Awanish Sharan, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), took to Twitter and shared the image of the notice, condemning the policy of no entry.
The message stated that no one other than the residents of the building is allowed to use the elevator. It also specifically banned “Swiggy, Zomato, and other delivery guys” from taking the elevator. “No caption,” Mr Sharan wrote as he shared the photo.

Since the post was shared, it has garnered more than 18,000 likes. It has sparked outrage among internet users, with many arguing that residents should have the basic courtesy of coming down and collecting their orders themselves. some users even wrote, “This is discrimination”.
“Can you take the food or delivery bag up to the 20th floor by using the stairs? I wonder, no… Just because they need this job. That doesn’t mean you take advantage of it. It’s people too. And increases costs if usage can be easily controlled if a society wants it,” one user wrote.

“Swiggy, Zomato and other delivery people should start charging extra according to the floor of the customers if they don’t allow them to use the elevators. Or tell the owners to use their exclusive elevators to come down and pick up their treats themselves society gates,” said another.
“More accurately, all swiggy’s, Zomatos and delivery drivers leave the food/items with a security guard or at the main door outside, and mark it as delivered. That would serve the purpose well,” suggested a third.
A user also revealed that the notice was posted in a housing company in Delhi.
