A United States National Football League (NFL) team was embarrassed when it posted a photo on the huge sign paying homage to porn star Johnny Sins. The incident occurred Sunday during a game between Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys, according to a report in New York Post. Days before the game, the Vikings asked their fans on their Twitter page to share the stories of family and friends who served in the military. The team intended to honor those people. But it resulted in a photo faux pas that went viral on the internet.
“We honor the military, veterans and their families of our nation during Sunday’s game against Dallas,” the Vikings tweeted last week. The team urged fans to “share photos and stories of your loved ones who have served or are currently serving” using the hashtag #SkolSalute.
It also offered two tickets to a fan who sent a tweet, which the team said would appear on the video board.
Before the game, a Twitter user named Kyle appeared on the giant video screen. He tagged the Vikings and posted the photo of his “cousin Joel,” who said he served in the military.
“This is my cousin who served in the military. He has always been an inspiration and someone I look up to for his heroism. He is also a HUGE Vikes fan #skolsalute,” Kyle said in the tweet.
But other astute Twitter users were quick to point out that it was the photo of porn star Johnny Sins. They also couldn’t believe the team believed the story.
“The Vikings were tempted to show Johnny Sins on their jumbotron…absolutely fantastic,” one user tweeted. “Someone is getting fired,” said another.
“I want to meet the Vikings video card man,” a third user commented.
