A video of a baby elephant being rescued after falling into a ditch has gone viral on social media. It was shared by IFS official Parveen Kaswan and received more than 45,000 views.

The short video shows rescuers trying to lift the young elephant out by widening the ditch using an excavator. This helped rescuers get closer to the baby elephant. Then a rope was tied around the elephant calf and it was pulled from the ditch.
According to Mr Kaswan’s post, authorities were informed about the elephant calf trapped in the ditch around 1am. They soon gathered in the middle of the night and successfully retrieved the calf after four hours of hard work. The baby elephant was later led safely to its herd.
“At 1 a.m., the teams received information about an elephant calf that had fallen into a ditch. A long rescue operation in the middle of the night. At 5 a.m. he was successfully rescued. And then he was led back to relatives who were in the nearby forest. The IFS officer’s post said.
The post has received 3,000 likes and more than 250 people have retweeted it.

Animal rescue videos are regularly shared on the internet. Recently, a rescue video of a Bengal tiger in the Sundarbans went viral on social media.
It showed the tiger leaping from a boat while being carried to the Sundarbans to be released into the wild.
