The video of a cat starting to vocalize with his opera-singing owner has entranced social media users in a now viral video. It was originally posted on TikTok and made its way to other social media platforms like Reddit. The cat, named Maximino, takes over the solo performance and meows along the music, as seen in the video. According to News week, the video garnered more than three million views on TikTok. More than 27,000 votes have been cast on Reddit.
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), cats are often vocal as a way of communicating with humans. “Cats enjoy social contact with people, and some will be quite vocal in their requests for attention,” according to the ASPCA. “The cat may want to be petted, played with, or just spoken to.”
Maximino’s owner is seen at the beginning of the video opera when the cat walks into the frame. The girl takes a break and tries to remove the cat. But the cat seems to be picking up the singing where it left off.
The girl looks surprised at first, but later starts laughing.
News week contacted the cat owner via email and told the outlet that the incident happened a few years ago, but she decided to post it recently.
The girl went on to say that Maximino is a vocal cat and often “yells” at her to get attention.
Reddit users were impressed by the cat’s singing abilities.
“Cats are so focused on the opera that her eyes see into the future,” noted one user. “What a little Diva!” Out of my way! I’m the real opera singer,” said another.
