A giant alligator crawls in front of a Florida house over Easter weekend
A video of a giant alligator crawling in front of a Florida home over Easter weekend has shocked the internet. The video was shared by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office on their Twitter and Facebook pages.
Captured by the sheriff’s officers, the video shows the alligator crawling, resting in between, and making its way back to the community lake. The alligator’s estimated length was 10 feet, as confirmed by the sheriff’s deputies in a Facebook post.
“First of all: Happy Easter! Second, we’re not sure if the Easter Bunny made his way to Harrington Lake in Venice this morning after encountering this naughty boy… We suspect he was about 10 feet tall and boy did he take the time to make it back to the lake where he came from. (…We can’t blame him just thinking about how heavy that tail must be),” the Facebook post read.
“FWC was advised but did not respond. For that reason it is safe to assume he is still swimming in this lake and enjoying this beautiful Easter Sunday. Stay safe and call us if you need us,” it added.
The shocking footage has sparked comments from many social media users.
“It’s the Florida Swamp Cat! On the way for the mating season! What a spectacle to watch. Florida was born here, but I will always enjoy seeing these dinosaurs,” said one user.
“It takes a lot of energy to move that large body. LOL. He flopped down a few times. I had to take a break,” said another user when posting a funny emoji.
