Monkeys can get mean when things don’t go well. Recently, a monkey was found to have gotten mad at tourists in Gibraltar and was filmed chasing them away. The incident was recorded by Naiara Alonso Sosa at a tourist spot in Gibraltar and shared by ViralHog. The 21-second video shows tourists being attacked by a monkey while trying to climb a flight of stairs.
The monkey clings to the woman and tries to open her backpack to find something to eat. The woman screams in fear and tries to break free. Another tourist, standing just next to the woman, at first seems confused about whether or not to intervene. He then stabs the monkey while the woman’s struggle continues.
The monkey doesn’t appreciate the man’s gesture and turns to him. Frightened, he immediately tries to run upstairs, but another monkey jumps in and blocks his way. The man then decides to run downstairs, but the first monkey now focuses on his backpack. The animals eventually chase both tourists away.
The incident took place on February 22, 2022, according to Naiara Alonso Sosa, who captured it on camera.
“I recorded it when I went to Gibraltar because if there was a tourist with a backpack on their back the monkeys would open it for them and in the end this time it was the funniest and it just so happened I recorded it”, she said.
Shared on March 19, the viral video has so far been viewed more than 1.25 lakh times on YouTube, and many people even left their comments.
“Maybe insensitive of me, but I haven’t laughed like this in days,” wrote one user.
“Everyone laughs, but when a monkey grabs my mom and hurts her, I’m literally the first person on camera trying to beat the monkey. Until it goes away, of course,” said another user.
A user shared an encounter with a monkey in Ooty. “I remember when I was in Ooty, the monkeys snatched the packet of cookies from my hand. Yes, we shouldn’t just feed them. They are such cute animals,” the user wrote.
“That was an attempted theft, lol,” another user said of the monkey’s attempt to grab the backpack.
“I like animals, but I’ve never trusted monkeys. I don’t know why people want to be in the picture,” another wondered.
