Fashion shows are known for showcasing outfits and makeup that instantly become the talk of the town. Kylie Jenner’s dress with a lion’s head on the Schiaparelli couture runway in Paris was one such example. And with so many people watching dozens of shows these days, both in person and virtually, brands are having to come up with increasingly elaborate ways to entertain their audiences. The public expects a performance rather than just a line of models parading down a catwalk. Recently, a video of a model walking down the ramp with a dress pinned to a tablecloth went viral. Interestingly, the tablecloth contained food and dishes. The model carried it all with her.
Designer siblings Nanna and Simon Wick recently presented their Fall/Winter 2023 collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week. A similar video was posted on Instagram by clothing brand (di)vision. In the video, model Sarah Dahl sits next to other guests at a table with half-eaten plates, candles, cigarette butts, and wine glass-stained white card invitations. She is seen in a pink corset and miniskirt and appears to make a toast before surprising the audience with her outfit. She gets up and starts walking and soon all the dishes on the tablecloth, which were attached to her dress, fall to the floor and move with her.

The brand captioned the post as, “”what are you bringing to the table?”@sarahdahll “I’m the table” AW23 “Dressed for Disaster” thank you so much everyone” Since the post was shared, it has garnered six lakh likes and more than 23,000 views. Many said the look was “legendary” and “cool.”
“I’m actually in love with this,” said one user.
“Love this surprise,” added a second person.
A third person said, “Iconic.”
However, several users have criticized the brand for wasting food.
“What’s the point? How is it sustainable?” noted one user.
A second person commented: “Not sustainable at all to throw the plates (with food on them) and break the still usable glasses.”
“No. You claim you have a recycling mark, but it’s NOT RECYCLING, IT USES FOR NOTHING,” said another user.
