Ten students from a management institute were injured on Wednesday when an elevator collapsed due to overload, police said.
The incident happened in the morning at the IMS Management Institute in the city of Dasna when the cable of the elevator on the fifth floor broke and fell, they said.
Four of the 10 students suffered fractures to their legs, while others suffered minor injuries, Assistant Superintendent of National Police Iraj Raja told PTI.
They were Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) freshmen.
“Prima facie, the cause of the accident was overload. The engineers of the elevator manufacturing company have been called to find out the technical aspect of why the elevator collapsed,” said District Judge Sadar Vinay Singh.
