Mumbai airport customs seized more than 4.2 kg of gold dust worth Rs 2.28 crores from an Indian national on Thursday, an official said.
According to the official, the gold dust was recovered from an Indian national who was from Muscat.
“Today, Mumbai Airport Customs seized more than 4.2 kg of gold dust worth Rs 2.28 crores from an Indian national who came from Muscat. Gold dust was hidden in carefully stitched pockets in the jeans, undergarments and kneecaps that were carried by the passenger,” the official said.
The video of the gold seized by the Mumbai airport customs also surfaced on social media.

Earlier, officials said that in the month of April, Mumbai airport customs had recorded 55 cases of smuggling of foreign-origin cigarettes and seized about 9,36,700 cigarettes.
The cigarettes seized by customs had a value of Rs 41 Lakhs.
“In the month of April 2023, the Mumbai Airport Customs recorded 55 cases of smuggling of cigarettes of foreign origin and seized approximately 9,36,700 cigarettes worth Rs 41 Lakhs,” the tweet from the Mumbai Customs read.
