Four people from Bihar were killed and 28 injured when their bus overturned in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said.
The incident took place on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in the Barsoo area of the southern Kashmir district, they added.
Four passengers, all residents of Bihar, were killed in the accident, the officials said, adding that 28 passengers were injured, 23 of whom were taken to various hospitals.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed concern over the incident and ordered the district administration to provide all necessary assistance to the affected people.
“I am deeply distressed by the unfortunate bus accident in Awantipora today, where precious lives were lost and many others injured. I have issued an instruction to the district administration to provide all necessary assistance to the affected persons,” said Mr. Sinha . wrote on Twitter.

He said that the district administration is in contact with the bereaved families in Bihar to provide all possible assistance.
“My sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” the LG added.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of Pulwama (DC) Base Ul Haq, as per the LG’s directions, announced an aid of Rs 1 lakh each for each victim’s family, an official spokesman said.
He said Haq also announced aid of Rs 25,000 for the seriously injured and Rs 10,000 for those with minor injuries.
Haq later visited SMHS and Bone and Joint Hospital to inquire about the health of the injured.
The DC ensured that the best possible health care is provided to the injured by the doctors and paramedics of various hospitals in Pulwama and Srinagar.
