A day before the Republic Day celebrations, terrorists threw a grenade targeting security personnel in Srinagar on Tuesday, injuring four people, including a police officer and two women, officials said.
The grenade was thrown at a team of security personnel in Hari Singh High Street around 3:30 p.m., they said, and the grenade exploded on the side of the road.
Four people were injured in the explosion. They have been identified as Police Inspector Tanveer Hussain who is posted to ACB, Mohammad Shafi, his wife Tanveera and another woman Asmat.
The injured were rushed to a hospital where their condition is said to be stable, officials said.
The security forces have cordoned off the area and started looking for the terrorists.
Security in the city and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir has been tightened to ensure safe Republic Day celebrations.
