Gurugram:
Five guards from a housing association here were arrested Tuesday for allegedly beating a 15-year-old boy who had gone there to attend a Diwali fair, officials said.
The arrested suspects were identified as Rohtash, Bhupender Singh, Radheshyam, Man Singh, residents of Uttar Pradesh, and Jitender Singh, a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, police said.
The incident occurred Oct. 15 at Orchid Petal Society in Sector 49, they said.
The teenager who tried to enter society was not only stopped by society’s guards, but also assaulted and beaten with sticks, police said.
An FIR was registered under the relevant sections of the IPC and under the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act at Sector 50 Police Station.
In her complaint, the boy’s mother, a resident of Valley View Estate Society, said her son left the house with his friends around 7:30 p.m. Saturday to attend the Diwali fair in Orchid Petal.
“When my son and his friends reached the gate of the society, the guards and some residents stopped them. When my son and his friends asked the guards to let them in, the guards started abusing them. When my son protested , the guards started beating him and his friends. There were also people who threatened to kill my son,” she stated in the indictment.
Police arrested five guards in the case on Tuesday, said Rajesh Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 50 Police Department.
“The guards have been released on bail. We are investigating the matter,” the SHO said.
