- Saif Ali Khan suffered serious injuries after he was stabbed six times by an intruder at his home in Mumbai's Bandra area in the early hours of Thursday. The incident took place when the suspect allegedly entered Mr Khan's house on the 11th floor of the Satguru Sharan Building for a burglary. Left bleeding after the attack, Mr Khan was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery and is recovering well.
- Mumbai Police had arrested one person on Friday morning but released him hours later saying he was not linked to the Saif Ali Khan assault case. However, the man was taken into custody again at night for questioning.
- The police have formed 20 teams, along with 10 teams from the Crime Branch, to investigate the case. CCTV footage has been seized from the Bandra area and at least two more suspects are reportedly being questioned.
- Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan recorded her statement with the Bandra police about the attack on her husband and actor Mr Khan. The statement was recorded at her home on Friday evening in the presence of police officers. Police have recorded more than 30 statements in connection with the attack, including a carpenter who worked for Saif two days before the incident.
- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said police have several leads and will arrest the suspect soon. “A police investigation is underway. They have a lot of leads and I think the police will intervene soon,” he said.
- Officials said the attacker's break-in at Mr Khan's home lasted almost 30 minutes. According to police sources, the intruder had scaled the wall of an adjacent property to enter the property. Officials said the intruder was familiar with the building's layout and took the stairs at the back of the building to reach the floor where the actor lives. He then entered Mr Khan's house via the fire escape.
- According to police, the suspect had demanded Rs 1 crore after barging into Mr Khan's flat.
- Eliyama Philips, a nurse who cared for Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's youngest son Jehangir (Jeh), who first encountered the intruder who stabbed Mr Khan, described the suspect as a 35 to 40 year old man with a dark skin color. Ms Philps said the attacker had a slim build and was around 6ft tall.
- Two CCTV images have emerged so far showing the man who stabbed Mr Khan. In one of the videos, the suspect, who covered his face and was carrying a bag, can be seen walking up the stairs before entering the actor's home. Other footage from the sixth floor of the building shows the intruder walking up the stairs as he fled after the incident. After that he was not seen again.
- As a political row erupted over the incident in Maharashtra, state minister Yogesh Kadam said no underworld gang was behind the attack. “A suspect arrested in connection with the attack is not part of any gang. No gang carried out this attack. Theft was the sole motive behind the attack on the actor,” he said.
