Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh:
A seven-year-old boy died of electrocution on Monday after coming into contact with a submersible pump on the grounds of a primary school, police said.
The incident took place within the confines of Manauna Police Station in UP’s Mainpuri district and the deceased child was identified as Anshu Diwakar, son of Chhabiram Diwakar, police said.
The victim child was playing when he accidentally came into contact with the submersible pump.
Angered by the painful incident, villagers along with the relatives of the deceased child damaged the school principal’s car and protested against the district administration. Later, with the efforts of the Circle Officer and Tehsildar Police, collected the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Deputy Inspector Gopal Sharma ordered an FIR to be registered against the principal of the school on the complaint of the victim’s relatives. Basic Education Officer, Deepika Gupta, also arrived on the scene and secured departmental action against anyone who will be found guilty.
Arvind Pratap Singh of the Samajwadi Party and former MLC of Karhal announced financial support of Rs 1 lakh to the victim’s relatives.
