More than eight lakh people have so far responded to a poll by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) asking them to choose a candidate from the party who could become the prime ministerial face for the February 14 election polls in Punjab.
The AAP launched the investigation under its “Janta Chunegi Apna CM” station.
“In just 24 hours, more than eight lakh people have responded to the phone number released by the AAP for choosing the party’s chief ministerial face in Punjab,” said AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema, who is also the leader of the party. the opposition is, on Friday evening.
Mr Cheema said more than three lakh WhatsApp messages, more than four lakh phone calls, more than 50,000 text messages and more than one lakh voice messages have been received on the number in the past 24 hours.
He said the AAP will announce its first ministerial candidate after collecting and compiling the full data.
AAP Covenant Arvind Kejriwal asked people on Thursday who should be the party’s top ministerial face in the Punjab Assembly polls, even though he had indicated his own preference for the position is Bhagwant Mann.
However, Mr Kejriwal had himself banned from the race when the AAP launched its “Janta Chunegi Apna CM” ride and said the name of the top post candidate will be announced after feedback from people.
The party launched a mobile number where people could voice their opinion until 5 p.m. on January 17 by recording their voices and sending text or WhatsApp messages about who should be the party’s top ministerial candidate.
Mr Cheema claimed that the people of Punjab have decided to eradicate traditional parties “that have indulged in dirty politics” and added that the AAP will form the next government.
People will vote for AAP by a clear majority, he said.
