New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi rushed back to Delhi after casting his vote in Gujarat to hold a two-day strategy session for the next round of elections. A series of state elections is scheduled for 2023, before the grand finale – the 2024 general election – in which the BJP will seek a third consecutive term at the Centre. The other crucial agenda appears to be a “Sneh Milan campaign”, which the BJP is planning.
The campaign aims to “culturally connect” one part of the country to another, Prime Minister Modi had told participating leaders.
Senior party leader Raman Singh said the session – attended by the party’s office holders big and small – has a long list to tick off.
In addition to the elections, the leaders plan to discuss the G-20, which India currently chairs, the economy and multiple cultural issues.
“All issues will be discussed at this meeting, including the upcoming elections,” Raman Singh told reporters after Prime Minister Modi opened the two-day session. In the context of the elections, the meeting will discuss class empowerment, Mr Singh said.
“The topic of G20 is a matter of pride for Indians. G20 meeting is inspiring for all Indians. ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ (One India, dear India) was discussed,” he said. The BJP, he said, is planning an extensive nationwide campaign to raise awareness about the G-20.
The Prime Minister also discussed the issue of the border villages.
