Ahead of questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited his mother and party chairman Sonia Gandhi at a Delhi hospital last night.

Rahul Gandhi was questioned for more than 11 hours on Tuesday by the investigative agency in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to the National Herald newspaper.
Mr Gandhi’s questioning began at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after some legal formalities were completed. He took a one-hour lunch break during the day and then rejoined the studies.
His statement was recorded in multiple sessions under the Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA) by the officials of the investigative agency. The congressional leader, sources say, meticulously checked the transcript of his statement before submitting it.
Top congressional leaders such as Harish Rawat and Randeep Singh Surjewala were detained from outside the congressional office on Tuesday as they attempted to march towards the ED office. Many party workers were also detained.
So far, Rahul Gandhi has clocked in over 21 hours of interrogation. Gandhi’s interrogation by the investigative agency began on Monday when he was grilled for about 10 a.m. Congress leaders and workers also held mass protests on Monday.
Congress has maintained that the interrogation of Rahul Gandhi by the investigative agency is part of the ruling BJP’s “vendetta policy” to silence the opposition’s voice.
Sonia Gandhi, who has also been summoned for questioning, will be deposed from the investigative office on June 23.
The case concerns the ED investigation into the alleged financial irregularities between Young Indian and Associated Journals Ltd (AJL), which the National Herald newspaper publishes.
Earlier this month, the research firm said the Gandhis’ questioning is part of its investigation to understand the shareholder pattern, financial transactions and the role of Young Indian and AJL promoters.
