Sticking to his stance to call the allegations against him “false”, AAP leader Manish Sisodia said in his resignation letter on Tuesday that it is unfortunate that despite working with honesty and truthfulness for eight years without interruption, allegations of corruption be filed against him.
“It is regrettable that despite the fact that I have worked continuously for eight years with honesty and truthfulness, allegations of corruption are being made against me. I and my God know that all these allegations are false. These allegations are, in fact, nothing more than a conspiracy of cowardly and weak people who are afraid of Arvind Kejriwal’s truth politics I am not their target you [Kejriwal] are their target. Because today not only Delhi, but the people of the whole country see you as a leader who has a vision for the country and the ability to make great changes in the lives of the people by executing it,” said the Mr. Sisodia in his letter of resignation. to Arvind Kejriwal.
“Today, Arvind Kejriwal has become a name of hope in the eyes of millions of people across the country facing problems such as economic crisis, poverty, unemployment, inflation and corruption,” the letter said.
The leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain resigned their posts in the state cabinet on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accepted their resignations. Their resignations will now be sent to Delhi LG VK Saxena.
The development comes two days after Mr Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise case.
Mr Sisodia was arrested on Sunday in an ongoing investigation into a case related to alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government’s excise policy.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant Mr Sisodia’s plea against his arrest in connection with the excise duty case.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said the court is not inclined to deal with the petition at this stage and suggested Mr Sisodia move to Delhi High Court.
“It cannot interfere in the matter as it may open the gate for people approaching the highest court in all these cases,” the court noted.
The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi sent him to CBI custody for 5 days on Monday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has questioned Satyendar Jain in Tihar jail over alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi’s excise policy.
Mr. Jain is currently under judicial custody in connection with another money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
His name popped up in the case along with another Delhi cabinet minister and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
According to the lawyers involved, the CBI has also questioned Vijay Nair, who is also in Tihar Prison in connection with the ED case related to excise policy. Mr Nair was previously granted bail in a CBI court case.
Recently, CBI and ED have made several arrests for alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi’s excise policy.
