Bombay:
A special court in Mumbai on Friday ordered the authorities of Yerwada Prison to immediately take into custody the accused Antilia bomber and former police officer Pradeep Sharma from a hospital in Pune where he is being treated.
NIA Special Judge AM Patil said after reading the report of a committee of doctors that it has been determined that Mr Sharma is in “stable condition and can be discharged”. In such circumstances, the prison warden of Yerwada Central Prison in Pune is immediately referred to Mr Sharma in custody from the hospital, the court said.
On February 25, 2021, an SUV loaded with explosives was found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence ‘Antilia’ in southern Mumbai.
Businessman Mansukh Hiran, who was in possession of the SUV, was found dead in a creek in neighboring Thane on March 5 of that year.
Mr. Sharma, who is accused of helping his former colleague Sachin Waze eliminate Hiran, was arrested in June 2021.
Recently, the Bombay High Court had rejected Mr Sharma’s application for bail.
