“Those who rejoice at the ED case decision are delusional”: Amit Shah

Whoever is the director of the Enforcement Directorate is not important, because whoever assumes this role will learn about the rampant corruption of a cozy club of rightful rulers who have an anti-development mentality, Interior Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday.
He said this hours after the Supreme Court declared illegal the third extension of the head of the Enforcement Directorate, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, cutting his extended term to July 31.
The Home Secretary said those rejoicing at the Supreme Court’s decision in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case are delusional for several reasons: the amendments to the CVC Act, duly passed by parliament, have been upheld .

He said the ED’s powers to attack those who are corrupt and on the wrong side of the law remain the same as the ED is an institution that rises above any individual and is focused on achieving its core purpose – that is, investigate money laundering offenses and violations of foreign exchange laws.
“So, who is the ED director – that is not important, because whoever takes on this role will learn about the rampant corruption of a cozy club of rightful rulers who have an anti-development mentality,” he said.
