Ahead of Republic Day, the Indian Army on Thursday announced the addition of two new features to this year's parade – battlefield surveillance systems and a DRDO tableau of Pralay, short-range ballistic missiles.
Addressing a press conference, Major General Sumit Mehta said, “The things that will come first are battlefield surveillance systems, second is the DRDO tableau depicting Pralay, a short-range ballistic missile…. This is the fourth time that the Indonesian president has come as the chief guest.”
Major General stated that approximately 5,000 cultural artists will perform along the ceremonial path to ensure visibility for all, in addition to the usual procedures. The artists used to perform in front of the presidential box.
“If we focus on the opening segment, like I said, it's a call to action, and it will convey the same message as last time. There will be drums and other instruments, and the numbers will be impressive to see. About 5,000 cultural artists, we saw earlier that most of the artists marched along the ceremonial path and approached the area near the presidential box. However, it was realized that others in the audience could not get a view of these cultural performances performances will spread along the ceremonial path, ensuring visibility for all, in addition to the usual procedures,” Mr Mehta said.
The Major General said a ceremony will be held at Vijay Chowk on January 29 at 5.15 pm.
Mr. Mehta said, “After January 26, a retreat ceremony would be held at Vijay Chowk on January 29 at 5:15 PM. This will feature Indian Army, Navy and Air Force and CAPF bands performing in which around 29 tunes will be played and they will marching while creating different formations.”
Leading defense research agency Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) would showcase its select game-changing innovations for national security at the 76th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi.
The DRDO tableau, themed 'Raksha Kavach – Multi-layered protection against multi-domain threats', includes Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile; Airborne early warning and control system; 155mm/52 Cal advanced towed artillery gun system; Detect, deter and destroy drones; Satellite-based surveillance system; Medium Power Radar – Arudhra; Advanced lightweight torpedo; Electronic Warfare System – Dharashakti; Laser-based directed energy weapon; Very short range air defense system; Indigenous Unmanned Aerial System; V/UHF Manpack software-defined radio for the army; Indigenous Secure Satellite Phone and UGRAM Assault Rifle, the DRDO said in a press release.
The Republic Day Parade 2025 is all set to be a spectacular celebration of India's cultural diversity and military prowess, with special focus on 75 years of the enactment of the Indian Constitution and Jan Bhagidari.
