New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said today that he was “the darling of the people” and claimed that the BJP was troubled by the love he received.
Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi party have come under fierce criticism in the run-up to the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections and the Gujarat Assembly, with BJP leaders calling it “the most corrupt party”.
“Before the Punjab (Assembly) elections, Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) said that Kejriwal is a terrorist. The Home Secretary (Amit Shah) launched an investigation. What happened to it? corrupt. If Kejriwal is a terrorist or is corrupt then arrest him, don’t you?’ Mr Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi.
“Kejriwal is neither a terrorist nor corrupt. Kejriwal is ‘janta kalaadla’ (darling of the people). The BJP has a problem with him,” said Arvind Kejriwal.
The 250 ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will go to the polls on December 4 while the counting will take place on December 7.
The BJP, which has governed civilian bodies in Delhi since 2007, is up against a resurgent Aam Aadmi party and the Congress. In the 2017 citizen polls, the BJP had won 181 out of 270 wards. Due to the death of candidates, two seats could not be voted on. The Aam Aadmi party had won 48 wards while the Congress won 27.
Earlier this year, the Center united the city’s three municipal corporations under the MCD, reducing the total number of departments from 272 to 250.
