Guwahati:
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude to ‘car innovator’ Nurul Haque for designing and donating a ‘Lamborghini lookalike’.
Mr Sarma on Saturday tweeted acknowledging the 31-year-old’s efforts and said: “Delighted to receive a modified Lamborghini-like car from innovator Nurul Haque of Anipur, Karimganj. My best wishes to him in all his future endeavors .”
Mr. Haque, a car mechanic from Karimganj district of Assam, converted an old Maruti Swift into a luxury version and turned it into a Lamborghini and reached Guwahati on Friday to present the vehicle to Mr. Sarma.
The prime minister met Nurul Haque and was overwhelmed. He praised Haque for the gesture.
Finished my day in Silchar with a walk from Itkhola to Circuit House together with our karyakartas. Happy to meet many cordial ones along the way.

The chief minister of Assam had seen Haque’s Lamborghini in Silchar during his visit to the administrative headquarters in Cachar district.
After meeting Haque in Silchar district, Mr Sarma had previously tweeted: “Had the thrill of being behind the wheel of a ‘Lamborghini’ assembled by Nurul Haque, a car enthusiast from Karimganj.”
The auto mechanic from the Bhanga area of Karimganj had told ANI that he spent more than Rs 10 lakh on his project because he “always wanted to drive a sports car like Lamborghini”.
“Earlier, I worked as a car mechanic in Dimapur (Nagaland) and started modifying cars. Also last year, I converted a car into a sports car that resembles a Lamborghini. Then I converted another car into a replica of a Lamborghini, which I will gift to the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. It took about four months to convert an old Swift into a Lamborghini,” Haque had previously told ANI.
“I then plan to convert another car into a Ferrari. I will do more such projects if the government lends a hand,” Haque added.
