Music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri, who popularized disco music in India in the 1980s and 1990s, died today in a Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital. He was 69.
Lahiri was hospitalized for a month and was released on Monday. But on Tuesday his health deteriorated and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was taken to the hospital. He had multiple health problems. He died as a result. of OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight,” Dr. Deepak Namjoshi, director of the hospital, told PTI.
Bappi Lahiri has played popular songs in several movies from the late 70’s-80’s such as ‘Chalte Chalte†Disco Dancer‘ and ‘sharaabi † His last Bollywood song titled Bhankas was for the movie’Baghi 3‘ from 2020.
The last time the singer appeared on screen was with Salman Khan on the reality show Bigg Boss 15, where he performed the new song “Baccha Party‘ by his grandson Swastik.
In April last year, the singer was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after testing positive for Covid. He recovered after a few days.
