Bombay:
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Wednesday that democracy in the country is under threat from the RSS and BJP.
The Indian National Congress (INC), India’s largest opposition party, celebrated its 138th anniversary on December 28. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge attended a huge gathering at Somaiya Ground, Mumbai. INC leaders like Kanhaiya Kumar, Nana Patole, KC Venugopal Ashok Chavan and Imran Pratapgarhi also attended the occasion.
Mr Kharge, speaking to the rally, said: “I want to raise awareness among the youth, women, Dalits and Bhraman community that we must come together and secure our constitution and democracy. BJP and RSS are destroying the constitution, they separate people based on caste and religion. We want your support, if you don’t support us, our democracy is in danger.”
Mr Kharge added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to give free rice, now they are extending it till December 2023 and then until May until the elections, then they stop it and say we have been giving free rations for a long time, now you pay for it”.
Mr Kharge slammed BJP saying, “The party has a huge washing machine that can clean even the biggest stains. If people are put in this machine, they come out clean. We all have to fight together to save democracy. It is a government of liars in the center.”
Bharat Jodo Yatra is an attempt to fight against the atmosphere of hatred created by them (BJP) in the country. A message has been sent to Rahul Gandhi saying that such events should not be held due to Covid19, but the Prime Minister attends many public events.
