The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) plans to contest the MLC elections in Bihar on all its sitting seats and the party is finalizing candidates for 13 MLC seats out of 24 in the state and will leave 11 seats for her ally Janata Dal (United States). ).
Speaking to ANI, Bihar BJP President and Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Jaiswal said: “Yes, we have discussed with the central leadership for the local body MLC elections how many seats will go to the alliance partner, but the final decision will be taken by the high command of the party. , not by the state unit.”
“But one thing I want to clarify is that all is well in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and there is no discussion about the upcoming MLC elections in Bihar with JDU. Some of the people are trying to create a rift between the BJP-JDU but they will not succeed in their mission because our alliance has had a coalition government in Bihar for more than 15 years and has been tried and tested for more than 15 years,” Mr Jaiswal said.
BJP Lok Sabha MP from Bettiah further said that a meeting of the BJP state core committee will be held in Patna today at 4pm and the core committee will hold discussions on various issues including the MLC election.
Under the banner of NDA, BJP wants to compete in 13 seats while JDU wants to compete in 11 seats, but JD-U wants to compete in the 50-50 formula.
Recently, Bihar BJP President Sanjay Jaiswal and Deputy Prime Minister Tarkishore Prasad met with Party Chairman JP Nadda and Union Minister of the Interior Amit Shah and expressed their opinion that the party should compete in all its seats, as it had been had won in the quota of the local authority for the Legislative Council of Bihar.
The local body’s quota for the Legislative Council of Bihar has 24 vacant seats and the election date is likely to be announced soon by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
