New Delhi:
Congress leader Pramod Tiwari alleged that the BJP was trying to destabilise the Jharkhand government and the action against former state minister Champai Soren is a step in that direction.
“The Soren family is the one who is fighting for the welfare of the tribals and he (Hemant Soren) is the CM. The BJP sent him to jail. The Supreme Court, while making a strong observation, granted him bail. Because their eyes are on Jharkhand and they want to destabilise the government. That is why the elections from Jharkhand or Maharashtra were not announced. They wanted to create unrest there and by creating unrest, they wanted to destabilise the government. Champai Soren is a step in that chain,” Mr Tiwari, MP, told ANI.
Champai Soren has decided to join the BJP and has expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
He also hit out at the BJP for calling for the 'Bengal Bandh', saying the party's intentions were 'something else'.
He said the CBI is investigating the tragic rape and murder case of the Kolkota doctor and added that the culprits should be given maximum punishment.
“The way the BJP party workers occupied the railway tracks, the way they beat up people and the police were attacked, it seems that the intention of the BJP is something else. So much violence is being used by the BJP people… The investigation is also being done by the CBI. So if there is any lapse, it is the CBI which cannot do anything at this point,” he said.
“The state government has investigated and handed over the accused. Now tell us what action is being taken, CBI should tell. The way BJP workers are disrupting peace in the name of bandh is being shown in the channels. I condemn it,” he added.
The BJP called for a '12-hour Bengal Bandh' after the Kolkata Police used lathi-charge, water cannon and tear gas against the protesters during the 'Nabanna Abhijan' rally.
The murder and alleged sexual assault of a female junior doctor on August 9 at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital sparked national outrage and widespread protests were held in several states of the country.
