Amritsar:
The Border Security Forces (BSF) on Wednesday intercepted a drone that infiltrated from the Pakistani side by shooting at it.
“A rogue drone coming in from the Pakistan side was intercepted while firing was being carried out by alert BSF forces in the Amritsar sector. After being fired, the drone returned to the Pak side,” BSF said in a statement.
A search is underway, they added.
More details on the case are awaited.
On March 28, BSF shot down a Pakistani drone in Amritsar shortly after it entered Indian territory with a shipment of contraband, the paramilitary force said.
The drone was shot down in the Amritsar when the BSF forces heard the buzzing sound of the flying object. It was recovered the following morning during a search carried out by the Border Guard. The drone entered Indian territory from Pakistan and was detected in the area of Rajatal border post in the Amritsar sector, the BSF said.
Earlier, Border Security Force (BSF) troops shot down a Pakistani drone along the Indo-Pak border that entered the Amritsar sector at 2:30am on the intervening night of February 2-3.
The drone entered the area of responsibility of the Border Observation Post (BOP) Rear Kakkar in the Amritsar sector of Punjab, BSF said.
The drone was recovered Friday morning along with a package of contraband between the border fence and the zero line, BSF officials said.
