Bareilly:
A case has been registered against two YouTube channels and they have been blocked for allegedly inciting communal frenzy by streaming “misleading” news about the imposition of a curfew and rioting in Bareilly, officials said Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan said “misleading” news about rioting and the imposition of a curfew in Bareilly was flashed on the two YouTube channels.
Following this, a case was registered at the Kotwali Police Station on Monday against the two channels – RA Knowledge World and Bareilly Production – under the Information Technology Act, he said.
The SHO of Kotwali Police Station, Himanshu Nigam, said both channels were broadcasting wrong facts and that an attempt was made to disrupt the communal situation in the city.
District Magistrate of Bareilly Shivacant said the administration was closely monitoring all developments.
