New Delhi:
India’s third lunar exploration mission, Chandrayaan-3, will make India the fourth country to land its spacecraft on the lunar surface, demonstrating its ability to land safely and gently on the lunar surface.
The countdown for the mission’s launch began Thursday at 2:35:17 PM IST ahead of Friday’s launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. The spacecraft will be launched on a GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle.
This will be the follow-up effort by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) after the Chandrayaan-2 mission faced challenges during the 2019 soft landing.
